If you have problems getting your computer or phone to connect Outlook, Apple Mail or other software to a mailbox please follow these instructions instead:
Outlook
Apple Mail
Apple iOS
Thunderbird
Common reasons for problems with Outlook on Windows:
- Outlook assumes your username is your email address. It is not – our datacentre uses a custom username for enhanced security. The username must be entered exactly as shown in the server details which we send to you, some versions of Outlook make this difficult to change. The help sheet on the link above shows you how to set this correctly in your Windows account settings
- Outlook assumes your server address is mail.yourdomain. We do not use this for security reasons, you must use the server address given in our information
- Password encryption not matching – please select password encryption ‘normal’
- Wrong Port numbers – check that you have the correct port number for IMAP or POP, depending on which of these you selected
